If you don’t own a msx, then a emulator is a solution.
In the link below you will play FLAT1 demo direct in a emulator online!

At the moment, Darkstone is developing a new game.
It is in an advanced stage.
Some levels and sound need to be made before it’s finished.
The name of the game is: flat1 . The maze exploring game.

One thing that makes MSX great is BASIC, the programming language that is accessible for all. To promote MSX-BASIC we are going to post some minis. Small parts of basic code that can be handy for making games or tools.

Most can be found in the many books written about MSX-BASIC, but sometimes it is easier to see a example.

The first will be about how to use mouse input.

10 SCREEN 7: DEFINT A-Z

20 X=255: Y=107: PSET (X,Y),0

30 IF PAD(12)=0 THEN GOTO 30

40 X=X+PAD(13)

50 Y=Y+PAD(14)

60 IF STRIG(1) THEN P=8 ELSE IF STRIG(3) THEN P=12 ELSE P=14

70 LINE -(X,Y),P,B

80 GOTO 30

We took some images of or msx collection.

At the Bonami fair, Darkstone will show a first live peek of their upcoming game!

Darkstone's wip game

The 24th Bonami fair takes place from 10:30 to 15:30 on September 27 in Matenpark, Heemradenlaan 130, Apeldoorn. The entrance fee is 4 euros.

In celebration of Bonami computer and game museum opening a new location, Darkstone has donated a wall painting.
Most people will recognise the concept of the game depicted in the artwork, which looks a lot better in real life.
Checking out the wall painting would not be the only reason to visit the museum though, it has 3000m2 of computers,
consoles and arcade cabinets to enjoy!

The Darkstone site has received some minor styling updates, amongst which a new background image and improved legibility. The ‘darkstones’ on the background are based on the Charred photograph by Filip H.F. “FiXato” Slagter. The original is available for licensing.

This Sunday, on the 29th of September, Bonami is organising their usual retro computer fair in Apeldoorn again, and it will be bigger than ever.

Of course Darkstone will be attending as well, and to make it easier for you to spot our booth, we’ve had a new banner made for us:

Darkstone will be easier to spot from afar now with this new banner

Heemradenlaan 130

The Netherlands

The venue is open from 10:00 to 16:00 and the entrance fee is € 2,-. We hope to see you there tomorrow!

Sometimes drawing in a certain style takes too much time and effort to create enough levels for an entire game.

For example the graphics that Lord Zett drew for a possible Darkstone project.

Below you can find “The City”, which was supposed to be level 1 of the project. He’s sharing this on Darkstone for everyone to enjoy and possibly learn from.

This great game made by Lord Zett and Edwin (infinity) is now opensource
A nice way to look into a game how it’s made.

Download the Pixiedust sourcecode from Infinite’s website; it comes with music and GFX.

If you have questions about the code go to Infinite’s post about open sourcing Pixiedust.

From this day forward Darkstone will have a new logo.
The old logo won’t go away; it will be kept for specific products where the old style fits best.

MSXdev10 entry

After BEEZ in 2006, it’s time for a new Darkstone game for msxdev10.

It’s called: DAQ Lord of Idar. A combi of a board-game and an action/dice game.

Hopefully a first place in the contest.

Welcome to the new Darkstone website.

Not all of our actions/products are on this page yet.

Enjoy!
